Facilitating Green Communities - Illane Lewis, Impact Maker

Imagine going for a walk and seeing broken-down, rundown, empty houses and apartments and wondering what if.... My business was born out of a pure desire to create beautiful, affordable, almost magical living spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also eco-friendly. I have always had a love for community and solar power or green, renewable power. Discovering LEED, green design was the icing on the cake for me; thus, Green Nation Development Company was formed. We aim to support our nation's carbon neutral objectives in the global marketplace by creating green communities. Further, while we are new, our vision is quite vast, touching many lives in a unique way, from employees to customers to the community at-large. Our vision is to build affordable, inclusive, green living spaces that support unity and togetherness as we blur the lines of racial barriers and income levels, supporting the intrinsic value of people that just love the place they live in. They love it not just because it’s beautiful, not just because it is luxurious, but because they know they have made a wise decision. By choosing to live in a green community, they too can support our nation's carbon neutral objectives in the global marketplace. On a side note, there has been a 23% increase in rent prices in my local area, which makes it hard for everyday people that rent to afford good, clean living. Ughhh! I am going to provide a viable solution that meets in the middle, creating inclusive properties that cater to and truly meet the needs of the people.
