What does Heaven on Earth look like? Special guest Martin Rutte tells us we can change the world with three questions.
This week on Dear God Are We There Yet, we’re visited by Martin Rutte, author of Project Heaven on Earth: The Three Simple Questions that Will Help You Change the World.
Martin is a management consultant who has worked with clients like Sony Pictures and Southern California Edison, and who was struck by the perils and tribulations the world is facing today - refugee crises, political unrest, natural habitat destruction - and .
“About 20 years ago, I began to look at all these issues, and I said, we’ve got to do something about it. We need a new vision for humanity.”
His next thought was Heaven on Earth.
He then asked hundreds and hundreds of people questions about what Heaven on Earth is to them, and he began to see patterns in the answers.
The three questions Martin asked:
• Recall a time when you experienced Heaven on Earth. What was going on?
• Imagine you have a magic wand, and with it you can have Heaven on Earth. What does Heaven on Earth look like for you?
• What simple, easy, concrete step would you take in the next 24 hours to have more of that?
We all have our own definition of Heaven on Earth, and it can change, he said. With realization and small steps, we can affect big change.
I love how these steps go from the emotion, to step two, to removing the knowing how, and then number three is action.
Martin says, for people who might be struggling to understand this concept, who might not have something positive that comes into mind instantly, who want to try, but not really, that it’s okay. It’s something we haven’t really thought about this before.
“It’s time for a new story, and you, the person listening, you’re the one who’s going to make it happen,” Martin said. “Help make it happen by the action you take today to move that forward. And you can do it!”
